Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That goes far beyond having annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfy even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Buellton:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean a lot of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a host of choices that can help you seal those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly easy fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Switch your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s usually recommended to switch your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some may last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they can likely better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a number of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service completed annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 805-242-9638  to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
